Ecommerce Manager

Rate of pay: £40,000 - £45,000 Depending on experience
Location: London - NW10 7NZ, flexible working arrangements negotiable.
Working hours: Full time permanent contract - 40 hours a week. This job involves working weekdays and occasionally weekends.
Job Purpose:
As the Ecommerce Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth and profitability of our E-Commerce department, ensuring the upkeep of our award-winning website japancentre.com, and managing all E-Commerce People and Compliance matters. This dynamic area of our business demands skill, energy, and a data-focused approach to meet company goals. You will take charge of achieving all Online sales KPIs, with responsibilities covering net sales, ATV, traffic, conversion rates, customer flow, retention, GP, and P&L analysis.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day warehouse operations of Japancentre.com and manage all E-Commerce department workflows and processes.
- Focus on increasing sales, enhancing efficiency, and minimizing costs in operations and fulfilment.
- Negotiate contracts and manage rates for E-Commerce partners, including couriers, SaaS providers, and external agencies/contractors.
- Lead the wider E-Commerce team, comprising customer service, digital marketing, stock, and fulfillment, through direct and indirect management.
- Foster a high-performance team environment through engaged leadership and performance standards.
- Conduct annual appraisals, handle performance management, and manage staff-related issues professionally.
- Plan and execute digital marketing initiatives in collaboration with the Purchasing and Marketing teams, launching company-wide and online exclusive promotions and product launches.
- Develop all online marketing channels including email, paid search, SEO, affiliates, and partnerships.
- Ensure the Japan Centre website remains cutting-edge by collaborating with SaaS providers and external developers for cost-efficiency, workflow improvement, user experience enhancement, and site future-proofing.
- Report to CEOs and Heads on department performance metrics weekly, monthly, and quarterly, including department P&L analysis.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational or technical issues within the team or tech stack.
Skills Required:
Essential:
- A keen interest in the food industry and Japan.
- Experience in managing or developing an e-commerce division or company.
- Proficiency in analytics tools such as Google Analytics.
- Experience managing a team and working with external contributors.
- Sound understanding of digital marketing for B2C.
- Highly organized, hands-on, and capable of prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects of varying sizes simultaneously.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, confident engaging with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Excellent written skills, with native-level English for copywriting and proofreading.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities and talent for developing team members.
Desirable:
- Technical expertise is not mandatory but familiarity with web-based software development, Adobe Creative Suite, or project management qualifications is advantageous.
