Role: Kitchen Assistant

Location: Shoryu Ramen, Manchester

Contract: Full Time or Part Time, Permanent

Rate of Pay: £8.25 per hour plus TRONC

Working Hours: Shifts are between 8AM - 11:30PM, Must be Fully Flexible!

Department: Back of House, Kitchen

Reporting to: Head Chef

Company Profile:

From the team behind Japan Centre, Shoryu Ramen launched in November 2012 and has been recommended in the Michelin Guide 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Shoryu Ramen specialises in Hakata tonkotsu ramen from the Hakata district of Fukuoka city on the southern island of Kyushu, Japan. Hakata tonkotsu ramen is a style of ramen made with a thick, rich, white pork soup and thin, straight ramen noodles. Our Hakata tonkotsu ramen recipe has been specially created by our Executive Chef Kanji Furukawa who was born and raised in Hakata, to provide the UK with highly crafted, genuine tonkotsu rarely found outside Japan. Shoryu's owner Tak Tokumine is also a native of Fukuoka city and along with Kanji is dedicated to championing his hometown’s local speciality.

Job Purpose:We are looking for Kitchen Assistants who will be assisting the Head Chef and Sous Chef on all basic food preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

As Kitchen Assistant, you will be part of a busy food production kitchen, your role is essential in preparing the key components of all dishes such as our Tonkotsu Ramen, gyozas, hirata buns an so much more. You will work alongside the Head Chef in producing not only great tasting soups and sauces, but also fish & chicken base dishes. Your role will include cutting, frying, steaming, boiling and washing-up whilst you are expected to practice good personal hygiene and follow proper food handling procedure.

Your duties will include:

  • Maintaining kitchen cleanliness
  • Assisting the Chef in food preparation
  • Assisting in checking and monitoring of kitchen equipment and food storage
  • Other duties associated with this role and requested by line managers.

Skills Requested:

Essential Requirement

  • Must have working experience in kitchen environment
  • A candidate must have good English language skills and eligible to work in the UK
  • Displays initiative and can easily adapt in a fast pace work environment
  • Fully flexible
