Digital Content Manager

We are an award winning specialist E-commerce retailer and have ambitious plans for growth. We are looking for an experienced Digital Content Manager to join us during this exciting time.

Location: London - NW10 7NZ

Working hours: 5 days a week; 9-6pm with some occasional out of hours work to support website and campaign launches

Pay: Dependent on experience. Initial 6-12 month Fixed Term contract 

Are you passionate about digital and enjoy working in a fast paced environment? Do you love all things ramen, mochi and Japan? We’re looking for a highly motivated Digital Content Manager to assist us with the day to day upkeep of content as well as the implementation of content for upcoming campaigns and redesigned areas across all of our brands. 

Working across all four brands, you will have excellent organisational skills, being able to multi-task and feel confident working in a fast paced environment. You will be methodical, always thinking of new and better ways to do things and be passionate about working accurately and effectively, to manage your time and achieve your objectives. 

Highly motivated and personable, with experience in maintaining content on social platforms and content management systems, ideally Shopify. 

You will work alongside your team to develop a process for regular auditing of content and ensuring that customers are always presented with inspiring, easy to find and up to date content for the Japan Centre Group. 

Taking a ‘one-team’ approach, you will assist the wider ecommerce / digital department with other activities during busy times.

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Take responsibility for the upkeep of specified website and digital content spanning all of our brand channels 
  • In particular own the day to day upkeep of content on Ichiba Marketplace, including the scheduling and setting of promotions, creation of new products, reorganisation of categories, optimised FAQs and delivery information.
  • Assist with particular areas as directed by the Online Operations Manager on, with an emphasis on the upkeep and evolution of all inspirational and experience content (eg; recipes and events), customer service related (eg; FAQs, policy information) content as well as full information about the brands we sell. 
  • Work with the business and marketing to ensure all restaurant websites have at all times the latest menus, opening hours, offers, latest news etc
  • Assist with ensuring all of our websites comply with the latest laws regarding published allergen information (eg; Natasha’s laws) and update with nutritional information as available. 
  • Establish a schedule in order to regularly audit all of our website content, to ensure any outdated content is addressed and dead links are removed or fixed.
  • Assist with the upload of new how-to videos for Japan Centre and in-depth product videos to explain products to our customers, to help increase understanding and help to drive online and retail sales.
  • Assist the Marketing team with upload and management of new videos and associated content in order to promote and run our Japan Centre Cooking school offering and special events (eg; via Eventbrite). 
  • Work to expand our range of products and availability on our social shops from Instagram to Facebook and manage the day to day operation of the social shops.
  • Work with the wider team to further showcase product launches and ranges, seasonal food & drink fairs, brand collaborations, and offers across all brand websites.
  • Understand each brand's positioning, visual identity and key messaging to ensure that content on each touchpoint is on point and accurate.
  • In conjunction with Marketing assist in adding video content to our core platforms as they arise for restaurant and retail brands.
  • Using our guidelines, review and update SEO meta data to ensure that we can rank as highly as possible in google and against our competitors.
  • Assist with the upload and review of new content for specific campaigns and redesigned areas of the websites as well as assisting with any pricing updates as directed. 
  • Work towards being confident to write copy for our products and other areas of the site with great accuracy and flair. 
  • Carry out other digital/eCommerce marketing duties and ad hoc requests to help the team overall in meeting our objectives if required (eg; assisting customer service, packing orders, stock take).
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures 


  • Graduate with a marketing qualification is desirable / or experience in digital marketing / content management
  • Relevant marketing experience in the hospitality & retail sector, would be highly desirable
  • Appreciation for Japanese & Asian culture, products and cuisine, is desirable  either through work, study or through personal social accounts
  • Experience of content management for websites, ideally in hospitality or for a retail brand
  • An appreciation and some knowledge of the Japanese language would be preferable and must have Native English or equivalent 
  • Minimum of 2 years in a similar content management and/or digital marketing role would be preferable, Shopify and agency experience is highly desirable

Skills & Attributes:

  • Excellent numerical and IT skills including (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook, Google Sheets, Documents and Slides)
  • Confident user of Adobe software including Photoshop is desirable
  • The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment, while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team to implement marketing campaigns, re-designed websites, new features, updated content
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of stakeholders and suppliers
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Image editing skills and some knowledge of coding (eg; html) is desirable 
  • Team player, with ability to work at all levels 
  • High attention to detail 
  • Interested in personal growth and showing initiative and being proactive as necessary
  • Interested in all things digital and new trends
